I am so frustrated that Prince George's County is being renovated so: more million dollar homes replacing the trees and the land where animals live, trees grow, and marshes boil with life. I wish these builders would take their blueprints somewhere else! I have lived in Maryland for 16 years, and I remember when around me were rolling hills, wetlands, and trees where many of these "developments" are popping up. Developing what?
There is a thing of beauty in any place that can allow a balanced growth of population and nature. For who can appreciate nature if it dissipates over time to but suppky for man's greed? What will children play on, around, and in? Have trees lost their amusement? Bogs their mystery? Grassy fields their joviality? The only thing that becomes "developed" when man's love for money buds overpopulating what should be sparsely inhabited is greed. There is nothing wrong with living on land with green grass to run on, streams to splash in, and trees with wide, expanding branches to climb.
One reason why I cannot stand living in this county is that it seems money speaks louder than the plight to liveability (ironically, PG is called the "Liveable County") . I feel as if investments in storefronts and "developments" are multiplying. But then, what are the desires of the inhaitants therein? Do we care that our children may never know amusement outside of a gadget with a screen?
