SOOO BUSY!

So, this past week I experienced one of my goals for my photogrpahy business: more than 4 clients in a week. PHEW!

I am tired, but not exausted. My shoots have taken me through fields, to the Baltimore Harbour, to Georgetown, DC, and trespassing on clearings where developments are soon to be built. I am lovingg this, and I am proud to say that I will be doing this for the rest of my life. At the moment, I am working on refining and polishing my work; doing all the things necessary to get the money shot, have shots that I am proud of, that are up to my standards, and building up my clientelle as well.

The postcards I designed didn't work out as well as I had hoped(as HOT as they are, lol). This is why I am leaving freekin PG County. You can't be an out-of-the-box thinker in this upscale hood, filled with people who can't think past their big houses and big cars, the cliques, mega churches, and children who dress with labels but can't read them.

LORDDD. Do NOT get me started. I went to NY the last weekend of June, and had a blast. I really love the El Barrio portion of East Harlem. That's really where I want to be after/during school. Harlem is like a cultural, artsy, cosmopolitan, part of NY that is my MECCA! lol. There's so many ideas I have, so many things I want to do business-wise and art-wise that I know I will NEVER get done if I stay where I am. And Lord knows, I have NO PROBLEM leaving this place in a heartbeat.

NEWS! I have FINALLY developed a photographic style, which-as it ironically turns out to be- is my personal style in a photograph: Bohemian, Artsy, Cultural, Feminine. (Headwraps, vintage clothes, and jewelry representing my travels and where I wish I was at the moment. The bigger the better.) The photographs I will be taking will resemble more snapshots from a person in the 30s-60s. I love the carefree nature of the people in the photos, the depth of the subjects, how polished they looked even though they were at home or in the park, the formal nature of even the most capricious of times.
**I like the Scurlock's work, the work of Gordon Parks, the work of Annie Leibovitz, Peter Lindbergh, Patrick Demarchelier, and Steven Meisel......**

Oh.

Photographs coming soon in individual posts....

a Daddy+Me Sesh!

, originally uploaded by Detailswe4sake*Photography.

So...

When I first begun shooting "professionally" (or emerging into) I sent out a mass email advertising free children's shoots. The email was tossed out, forwarded by friends to their friends, and eventually, some moms contaced me to book their child.

One of those people was Mrs. Chrystal. She emailed me for a shoot with her-at the time only son- Tristan. We shot at Allen Pond. The photos turned out....I look back on them now and I am MORE THAN HAPPY I have grown in my photography! OMG.

I am glad to be able to redeem myself, and glad that she still has faith in my gift. She asked me to do a Daddy+Me shoot with her husband and now 2 sons..little Ethan is 9wks old!

I enjoyed meeting the newest addition and seeing how much Tristan has grown.

Still booking Daddy+Me and BFF Sessions!

Peace,
Chimene

Working with Solome K.

I had the amazing opportunity to work with fashion designer, Solome K. The whole experience was wonderful! Even though the shoot was completely behind schedule, it was all for the best as we had AMAZING sunlight which perfectly illuminated the designs, and our model, Jonie. Sabrina was MUA/Hair/Lighting Assistant, and she rocked completely.

We shot in the Agricultural Center again. The farm manager (Mr. Spicknall) was soo patient as he allowed us to shoot 2 hours after the place had closed. I felt horrible, but he had no problem supporting the artistic endeavor.

Solome was present for the shoot, as Jonie modeled her clothes.

Jonie was a GREAT model! She really listened to us and did a great job portraying the strong African (she's Ugandan) woman in these pictures. I was really proud of her!

We used my jewelry for the shoot....For once, I feel it was useful!

A Couple of Lovebirds

When my RD approached me about shooting his engagment session, I originally refused. My photoshop had crashed, I was a bit overwhelmed with college schoolwork and activities at the time, and I didn't want to shoot on campus as I had with my peer group leader early in the Fall semester.

However, when I realized that I could use the fully-equipped Mac Lab at my school to edit my shots, schoolwork let up, and Ben asked me again, I could not help but say yes! But where? We decided on Harrisburg for outdoors, and a bookstore for indoors. Had a blast. Jamie came with me and worked alongside as my assistant and my second photographer. This was her FIRST engagement shoot (only my second e-sesh, but hey...).

Sarah: Lady Spring

So, I have a new muse here on campus, named Sarah Hawkins....She is my camera's dream come true. I did a test shoot with her a couple of months ago, and then we did an official photoshoot just three days ago. This chic is the bomb! Her facial features make her seem like a child woodland nymph or a fairy, but she is not only a sophomore, but also an RA. Sarah is so chill, happy, easy to hang with, and she has the most contageous smile and laugh!

Before we begun shooting, Sarah asked me what I wante out of the shoot, and I thought to myself how professional it was of her to ask my vision for the shoot. I told her, and she nailed every adjective, every concept, every scene. Wow. I am seriously considering sending her pics out to Wilemena Model Mgmt. She's so beautiful inside and out, and absolutely STUNNING in front of the camera.

For this shoot, we went all natural by sticking flowers in her hair and having her wear a white dress. The evening was gorgeous! At first, we had a few spectators driving by, but she was not shy at all, she kept on modeling. I also got a chance to utilize the brown eggs that my mother purchased for me (to eat, not to shoot with, but they were so "organic"...just had to use them!). Sarah flowed with the concept, and rocked it out.
